Carol Hunter, Ottawa School Breakfast Program

Posted By Eddie Villarta

“As a former teacher I can certainly appreciate the difference it makes to children not to be hungry in class.”

Carolyn spoke about the Breakfast Program which was initially intended for children who came to school hungry and unfed. It was interesting to hear that the program now also serves a bonding function in that all children can partake, meaning that no one is stigmatized as being in need and that many parents who can afford to do so voluntarily donate to the program as their children join in.
